12 Standards | Back | Table of Contents | Next | 12.1 Generic The Steering Group recognises the excellent principles of the Clinical Standards Board for Scotland21 and this document fully supports the principles of the values statement. The standards have been written in terms of adults but also apply, with appropriate modification, to children and their parents/guardians. In any pathway of care within NHS Scotland (from the very first contact) each family should:
12.2 Specific Standards It is vital that parents and professionals work together in an equal partnership valuing each other’s roles and contributions. Parents’ observations of their child in daily life are an essential part of the assessment. These, coupled with the professionals’ assessments, provide the basis for a jointly agreed care plan. There is an emphasis on inter-agency partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is to try to ensure a consistent approach with the child. It is important that there is a clear pathway of information sharing and decision making between the families and professionals involved.
